So many choices we have
some are wrapped up
with bows & ribbons of colour
Others are the doors that open
Promising change from the current
Some are our dreams come true
And others can rob us of our joy.
For some the choices are many
Whilst others struggle to get by
For some choice is a blessing
Yet for others it can bring death.
No matter how deep one’s pocket
The rich can fall from grace
And the poor can rise to the heavens.
Our parents made many a choice
Yet each shape our future
We discover the influence of their choices
In those that we do for our own children.
As we walk this life of many options
We can loath our parents’ bad choices
Or to be grateful for the good they did.
So when we embrace parenthood
We can recall the good choices
Our parents once made for us
So when we’re wrestled with choice
We are placed in our parents’ shoes
Either choosing good for our own children
Or continuing a trend of weakness.
As we embrace this freedom of choice
We appreciate the courage required
To choose to follow after righteousness.
When we finally reach our depths
We discover we were not created
To make any of these choices alone.
Yet we have to decide to lay down our pride.
So, if I may encourage you,
Choose life that you may live
For the wisest choice we could make
Would be to hand over our freedom:
Freedom to make decisions on our own
So freely hand over your choices
To your Heavenly Father who cares.
Surrender your choices to His wisdom
Or find yourself held bondage
To all those wrong decisions you have made
For they will surely visit you
In the day of your distress.
Truly those who give their lives to Him
Will find life - a life so much lighter than before!
Choose life that you live….
